Embarking on his journey in beats of hip hop, Somdipto first found himself drawn to the infectious rhythm of dance during his school days. Immersed in the sounds of artists like DIVINE, he found inspiration weaving through every beat, every rhyme. However, it was during his college years that destiny intervened in the form of a friend named ‘Vaibhav Sharma’. A chance encounter blossomed into a deep friendship that would shape Somdipto's artistic path in profound ways. Vaibhav, a burgeoning wordsmith and rapper in his own right, ignited a fire within Somdipto, fueling his passion for music and lyricism. Their evenings became a sanctuary of creativity, as they would retreat from the demands of college to indulge in their shared love for hip hop. Jam sessions and writing marathons became their ritual, each moment full of musical expression.

Reflecting on the initial stages of his musical journey, Somdipto, known by his stage name 'Syahi Nawab', reminisced about his first song ever called, "Sangharsh". This maiden creation delved into the struggles that individuals confront in their lives, each verse a testament to the resilience of the human spirit. Yet, despite its thematic weight, Somdipto candidly admitted that the lyricism of his debut effort felt somewhat contrived, a product of youthful enthusiasm rather than seasoned craftsmanship. Nevertheless, he harbours no regrets, viewing the song as a cherished stepping stone in his evolution as an artist.

While sharing his artistic ethos, Somdipto offered a glimpse into his creative compass. With a regal resolve befitting his stage persona, he articulated his primary mission and that is to serve as a balm for the wounds of society. His compositions, steeped in raw emotion, serve as conduits for catharsis, both for himself and his audience. For Somdipto, the act of crafting music is not merely a vocation but a sacred rite of self-discovery and communal healing, each note and lyric a testament to the transformative power of artistic expression.

Driven by an unyielding commitment to excellence, Syahi Nawab recently embarked on a new venture and that music production classes. Eager to refine his craft and align his skills with industry standards, he approaches this opportunity with humility and determination, ever-evolving in his pursuit of musical mastery.

“Currently, I'm delving into various genres, allowing myself to explore and experiment with different sounds and styles. While I find soulful music particularly captivating, lately, I've been immersing myself in the sounds of UK Pop but firmly believe in not confining oneself to a single genre. Diversity breeds innovation, and I'm all about pushing boundaries and challenging my own musical horizons.”

As he reflects on his influences, he finds inspirations in artists who excel in crafting melodies that resonate deeply with the soul and artists like KING and Talha Anjum command his admiration for their ability to infuse emotion into every note. Yet Syahi Nawab also draws inspiration from the lyrical prowess of J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar and their mastery of delivery and storytelling serves as a guiding light in his own artistic journey.

“Growing up in India, Bollywood melodies have been ingrained in my musical DNA. When you listen to my music, you'll sense those familiar Bollywood vibes infused with a hip hop flavor, offering a sense of tranquility. I don't label myself solely as a rapper; I see myself as a musician, embracing the diverse influences that shape my sound.”

For the past year, Syahi Nawab has been in a creative cocoon, crafting his musical vision. Explaining his hiatus, he reveals that this period was dedicated to honing his craft, seeking the perfect sound that would resonate with his audience. Now, emerging from this incubation period, he finds himself with a treasure of songs, each polished and ready for release. Syahi Nawab unveils his ambitious plans for the future, disclosing his intention to unveil a new track every month. Additionally, he promises his listeners with an upcoming EP, a project that has been brewing for the past three months. With planning and foresight, he aims to grace the world with his EP come July, coinciding with the celebration of his birthday month.

“When I first started out, old school hip hop was a huge influence, but after a while, it started feeling repetitive jamming to the same 4x4 beat. However, as time went on and I delved into the technical side of production, I began to see things differently. Learning about engineering and production opened up a whole new world for me, showing me that digging deeper removes a lot of creative boundaries.”

"Yaad Hai" holds a special place in Syahi Nawab's heart, set for release in March. This track holds a rare sense of tranquillity for him, a feeling that often eludes artists after repeated listens during the production process. The song's story delves into the persistent echoes and knocks of love from the past, and the memories of which continue to resurface, haunting the protagonist's thoughts. Despite the inherent sadness of its theme, "Yaad Hai" captures a sense of longing and introspection, inviting listeners to immerse themselves in its emotive journey.

“I always remind myself not to get caught up in comparing my progress to others'. Instead, I focus on competing with my past self, constantly striving to improve. Whether I'm making music or not, I dedicate myself to hard work and immerse myself fully in the world of music.”
