Adding alluring euphonies to the folk genre of India, Nirant Chilimbi is slowly climbing the ladders of fortune and artistic success. Being born in a household of music enthusiasts, his dad used to play cassettes and CDs of artists which eventually became his heroes and influences. To name a few, Dire Straits, Simon and Garfunkel, JJ Cale, Joni Mitchell, Nina Simone, and The Beatles were a few of the inspirations. The blend of emotions and music emitted after hearing and feeling them sparked an interest in understanding the process behind these sounds. Growing up, these artists lead a platform upon which artists like The 1975, Michael Nau, Dave Matthews Band,
Lucky Ali and Oasis further forged his taste for good music. Not considering himself an experienced artist, this curiosity of knowing the science behind music lead him to learn guitar. Later intrigued by the idea of being a songwriter, this was how he slowly transformed into the artist we have today.
Being asked about the first song he ever wrote; he remembers a vague remembrance of the song but still can feel the experience he had. Being a new and very meaningful experience, simple chord progressions and some humming lines were giving a cliche love song. Even though the precise moments of the recollection are not there, the process and feel are still present deep in his art today. To meet and collaborate with his artists whom he admires and respects, Nirant has already met some such minded people namely Raj Kumar Dewan, Somesh Saha, Kabeer Singh, and Vedansh
Tripathi.

While pursuing his degree in engineering, the correspondent started learning guitar and songwriting. Resisting to label music just as a passion, he wanted to do well to earn from it. Being a self-taught musician, Nirant is not bound by any musical process or anything as such. He also gives a shoutout to Kabeer Singh who helps enhance his music-making process.
"The genres that I can think of that seep through my music would be folk, indie, pop,
blues, and rock. I think the combination of these genres influences my taste and the music I create. The artists who have inspired me are Dire Straits, Simon and Garfunkel, Joni Mitchell, Nina Simone, The Beatles, J.J Cale, The 1975, Dave Matthews Band, Lucky Ali, and Oasis, to name a few."
Talking about future releases, our Mysore-based artist reveals that he has over 15 songs saved up in his drive and will start releasing them one by one over the next 5-6 months. With that, he also hopes to go on a tour with his friends who helped him make these projects to play these sets of songs live. Over the years, Nirant admits that his storytelling skills have improved dramatically. He essentially thanks all the high-caliber artists who collaborated with him. Currently focusing on adding more styles to the music, he shares his excitement about the addition of cello, violin, and synthesizer in his music. And with that, the missing piece to his current sound is filled.

"The key lesson that I have learned on my journey so far is to be humble no matter where
or with whom you are. There’s always something to learn from everyone. Making friends and having fun along the way makes the journey worthwhile. Overall, having a passion for something and keeping at it goes a long way!"
As the conversation started to shift towards his latest soundscape, he shared his experience while creating his first Hindi song "Kaise Bataaon" which was made during the pandemic. With many musicians sending their part remotely, it was a great opportunity to connect with more like-minded people and artists. Coming back to the part of future releases, Nirant is excited about the release of his songs in the vault. With all the songs being recorded in Mumbai, the songs feature collaboration with artists he always wanted to. Whatever future lies ahead for young artists, he is concentrated and prepared for the challenges that await them.
"I wish for my music to bring a sense of hope and happiness! Other than that, I am just a
guy who makes music and doesn’t think much about the whys and hows."
