Life is one big experiment; this is probably the most certain reality of life. Everything stretching from ideology to affection needs to be explored. The main essence of experiments is evolution. Without an attempt to kill something, one cannot expect to recreate oneself. With surviving the post-coronavirus phase, everything from our way of reckoning reality to confronting the truth. This of course without any saying goes for music too. I still remember the summers of 2022. It was just after everything was settling down to the way they were, that I stumbled across an album named "Awaaz" by an artist named Yash who goes under the pseudonym Darzi. An hour-long project filled with intense synths decorating the layers to the vital message about gender equality. Following that project up with Bhabhi Hunter, a fun-pop collaborative EP now out with his 3rd genre-blending EP "Kisko Disco" which as the name suggests, is dance music.

Starting our conversation about the newest release, Darzi discusses the planning behind the soundscape of "Kisko Disco". Picking up where he left off with his first EP " Gehra", the themes, the sonics, the contour, and the colour is a paying homage to the very first tracks he ever produced and released. Even though all four tracks differentiate from each other varying from sounding grungier to providing a clean funky energy fest, together as a pack they blend in perfectly. Currently, on an all-India tour performing acoustic sessions in every primary city, he gives his flowers to his fans who have been attending and showing their entire support towards him.

From learning and immediately falling in love with the guitar at the age of 14, the whole musical journey till now has been lovely for Darzi. From meeting amazing artists and getting inspired by fellow makers to building a small loving audience. Bringing great pleasure to know the names and faces of the people who appreciate his music and for whom he is making, it feels like heaven to Darzi. And with this tour, this dreamlike ambition is coming to life. After performing in various cities throughout the country, our topic of dialogue shifted to the current music scene of India. Believing it to be very interesting, he explains how there are positive sides as well as negatives to it.

"On the positive side, the independent music scene has been blooming. Making, releasing, and getting reception for your music has never been easier. Reaching an audience is possible because of the never-ending support of some people who've made it their singular mission to support every newcomer in the scene. While this is a great thing, parallelly, the lens through which people perceive their own and other's music has become distorted. Repetitive genre tropes get passed as experimental and groundbreaking. Conversational lyricism finds a footing in avant-garde best-of lists."

Talking about his previous releases, when asked about the reception being received for his fan-favorite work "Awaaz", he expresses his gratitude towards the people who have received the message. Containing a potent message, meeting people who acknowledge and appreciate it has been the most gratifying moment for him. People telling how much the songs have impacted them, how much they've helped them get through things in their life is probably the proudest moment for him as Darzi says. From drawing inspiration from literature, films, and paintings, incorporating the themes found in these forms in music is what beautifies it. Being a huge Stephen King enthusiast, from reading his work just for pleasure to trying to develop a solid work ethic structured like his books. The influence holds a huge value

Ending our conversation talking about the future, Darzi talks about his next major release "Ghulam" which he had teased multiple times on his social media. Giving us a tease of what's coming ahead, it's going to be his biggest project taking the core sound from Awaaz and diving deeper. The themes are going to be very personal, a first for him as Darzi. Being very indebted to his listeners, his main priority is to provide for his listeners. And with this project, he will be able to provide them with something they will always cherish. And with that, he bids his farewell to us by giving his flowers to everyone who has been supporting him and proceeding ahead to keep on experimenting and evolving in life.

"When I started, I wanted to open up a new territory, pioneer a new sound. I still want to do that but right now I want to do something for the listeners. Give them something they can treasure, a precious gift."
