Aneesha Dass, known simply as Aneesha in the music world, is a 33-year-old artist from New Delhi who made a bold career shift in 2018 when she left her job as a child psychologist to pursue her true passion—music. Her journey began with a leap of faith and a determination to grow her skill set in the rapidly evolving indie music market. Aneesha enrolled in a music school in Gurgaon to learn music production on Ableton, marking the start of her journey in composing and constructing her own melodies and songs.

Aneesha’s latest release continues to build on her established sound, which she describes as residing in the electronic R&B realm, infused with pop influences and relatable lyrics. Her newest track, characterized by a laid-back, sensual R&B vibe, draws heavily from her admiration for female R&B artists and their vocal arrangements. "I worked on the vocal melody for a while before I found the kind of flow I enjoyed," she notes.

Reflecting on her musical evolution, Aneesha credits her collaborations with various artists for expanding her distinct voice. While her recent track "Swoon" fits within the afro-R&B persona she’s developed, it also showcases her growth in crafting more complex vocal melodies and song structures. "I think I've grown in terms of being able to write more complex melodies vocally," she says, noting the progress she’s made since completing "Swoon."

The creative process behind her latest track is a story of perseverance and collaboration. Originally composed for UK-based artist Joe Hertz, the project fell through due to changes in his musical direction. With Hertz’s manager’s blessing, Aneesha continued to develop the song, eventually collaborating with two Indian producers who helped realize her sonic vision. Influenced by afro-R&B artists like Nao, Cleo Sol, Sinead Harnett, and Jorja Smith, the final production highlights Aneesha’s smooth and sultry vocals against a laid-back R&B foundation.

Aneesha hopes listeners connect with the song’s sensual and relaxed vibe, ideal for unwinding with a glass of wine, a date night, or a Sunday cookout. "The emotions I wanted to capture are definitely about that initial feeling of a crush you have and the kind of perfume it brings to your life," she explains. Aneesha aspires to transport her audience to a place of excitement and relaxation through her music.

"I hope Indian audiences, but also global audiences, can vibe with this song and give it a few listens as I believe its charm grows on you," Aneesha adds, inviting listeners to join her on this musical journey.
